Gracie Lee Smith Lucherk, 86, of White Hall, died Monday morning, July 23, 2012, at Grimes-St. Joseph Health Center in Navasota.
A gathering of family and friends was held Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home, 815 S. LaSalle in Navasota from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services were held 2:00 pm Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Deacon Grant Holt of Chirst Our Light Catholic Church officiated. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery in White Hall. A reception was held at the White Hall Community Center following the graveside service.
Serving as pallbearers were Shawn King, Kie Lucherk, Christopher Lucherk, Russell Seeker Pat Cole and Doug Powledge. Honorary pallbearers were C.H. Prihoda, Jr., MD, Charles King, Chester Lucherk, Ike Joswiak and Herbert Thiel.
Gracie was born Thursday, February 4, 1926 in Bryan, Texas to Thomas Jefferson “Buck” and Emma Franks Smith. A resident of White Hall since 1971, Gracie was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church and worked for a number of years as a cook at Camp Allen. Her true calling in life though was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved riding her lawnmower and cutting grass and enjoyed “entertaining”, helping others and her social life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno, in 1987.
Survivors include 4 children, Jerry Lucherk of Field Store, David Lucherk, Joyce Lucherk, both of Navasota and Linda King of Brenham; 9 grandchildren, Tina Seeker and husband Russell, Melissa Anderson, Holly Franklin and husband David, Shawn King and wife Amy, Christopher Lucherk, Tabatha Lucherk, Trema Lucherk, Thana Powledge and husband Doug and Kie Lucherk and wife Casey; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Lillie Burns of California, Helen Thiel of Brenham, Mae Dell Izard of Navasota and Betty Moore of Houston.
